Online buyers of used broken laptops?

I have dropped my fairly new laptop and it is pretty much broke, it likes to spasm out and beep for an annoying 5 minutes. But anyway first two sites i get a quote on, they say they'll give me 150-177$ for it broken. I think i bought it for around 500$ in 2009, surely a little twist or scam to that? Excuse my ignorance, I dont do much online shopping/selling.
