What was a "good" book that you absolutely hated?

haha so many. I laughed when I read ummick's answer because that was the immediate title that popped into my head: "The Great Gatsby." Also 1984 didn't work for me. And many novelty titles of today don't gel well with me either despite the reviews like the obvious Twilight saga and Lord of the Rings (not especially new but praised for all the wrong reasons). But it's a matter of taste. You can't please everyone, unfortunately. And all these books didn't have anything "wrong" with them in terms of the mechanics of writing (well, Twilight and LOTR is debatable)...but anyway, it was mostly other things involving characterization or subject matter or plot direction that really didn't work for me.
