Question about jaws and breathing- Tooth 975??!?
The first thing you need to do is to find a dentist who will be available full time to evaluate and treat you. It sounds like you have sleep apnea issues. Adults need to have 2 screws in their Schwarz plates because 1 screw will not be effective enough. Expansion of the palate should lower the palatal vault and increase the airway thereby making breathing easier. If your mandible is retruded (a Class II) then repositioning it forward should also improve the airway. I suggest going to a functional orthodontist because they are more familiar with sleep apnea problems than traditional orthodontists. Expansion in adults is not stable and means that a retainer will need to be worn at bed time forever. Mandibular translation can be done at most any age and being 26 years old should not be a problem and will be stable. Surgery should always be considered an option of last resort.
